Sharing Our Faith

Sharing our faith is a tricky thing. If we share too much with someone, we may push him or her away from God. On the other hand, if we don't share enough, we could miss an opportunity to lead them to God. Learning to discern what is appropriate is a skill the children in 3rd-5th grade are beginning to tackle. We spent the month of May playing games that present a variety of scenarios and a range of responses that we could face in everyday life. For example: "You want to share your story with your aunt, but your parents think you are too young. Your aunt asks you, 'What's new?' You tell her all about trusting Jesus. Her response will be based on where she is spiritually. If she is open to hearing God's good news then she may cry and say she wants to trust Jesus too. But if she is cautious about hearing God's good news, then she may change the subject and say that she doesn't want to talk about God. It was amazing to see the kids catch on and really think through their actions. God is really moving in their little hearts!
